OpenVZ / XenPV Re-install

Simply click the re-install button in SolusVM control panel.

XenHVM

For our HVM guests we use a CD-ROM based install mechanism so, just like a real server, certain things have to be done in sequence if it’s necessary to reload:

  • Firstly, login to SolusVM and set the VPS to boot from the CD-ROM as the primary device
  • Power the machine off then back on (a reboot is not enough)
  • Connect to the console so you can watch the installation or do it manually
  • Once the installation is complete, power the VPS down
  • Set the boot order to be HDD first
  • Boot the server and your OS will load
